A Catalog of Potential Post–Common Envelope Binaries

چکیده
We present a catalogue containing 839 candidate post common envelope systems. Common evolution is very important in stellar astrophysics, particularly the context of compact and short-period binaries, including cataclysmic variables, as progenitors e.g. supernovae type Ia or mergers black holes and/or neutron stars. At same time it barely understood process binary evolution. Due to limitations, since partially remedied, on direct simulation, early investigations were mainly focused providing analytic prescriptions outcome In recent years, detailed hydrodynamical calculations have produced deeper insight into previously elusive ejection. However, link between observations theory this relatively short-lived phase has not been forthcoming. Therefore, main be gained from derived current state systems likely gone through envelope. Here we an extensive such found literature. The aim paper provide reliable set data, obtained observations, used theoretical modelling catalogue, former donor star commonly observed white dwarf hot sub-dwarf star. This includes period mass estimates, wherever obtainable. Some binaries are border line cases allow investigation transition formation other mass-transfer processes.

Eclipsing binaries in ASAS catalog
ASAS is a long term project to monitor bright variable stars over the whole sky. It has discovered 50,122 variables brighter than V < 14 mag south of declination +28◦, and among them 11,099 eclipsing binaries. We present a preliminary analysis of 5,384 contact, 2,957 semi-detached, and 2,758 detached systems. The statistics of the distribution provides a qualitative confirmation of decades old ...
متن کاملA comprehensive population synthesis study of post-common envelope binaries
We apply population synthesis techniques to calculate the present day population of post-common envelope binaries (PCEBs) for a range of models describing the common envelope (CE) phase. This includes constant, global values of the CE ejection efficiency parameter αCE = 0.1 to 1.0, as well as considering it as a function of the secondary mass. We also use models where the values of λ (the giant...
متن کاملEclipsing Binaries in the Ogle Variable Star Catalog. Iv. the Pre-contact, Equal-mass Systems
We used the database of eclipsing binaries detected by the OGLE microlensing project in the pencil-beam search volume toward Baade’s Window to define a sample of 74 detached, equal-mass, main-sequence binary stars with short orbital periods in the range 0.19 < P < 8 days. The logarithmic slope of the period distribution, logN ∝ (−0.8 ± 0.2) log P , was used to infer the angular-momentum-loss (A...
متن کاملEclipsing Binaries in the OGLE Variable Star Catalog. III. Long-Period Contact Systems
A sample of contact binaries discovered by the OGLE project in Baade’s Window, with orbital periods longer than one day and with available color and light-curve data, has been analyzed. It consists of only 32 systems, in contrast to 388 W UMa-type systems with shorter periods which were analyzed before. Most systems are very distant and are probably located close to or in the galactic Bulge. Tw...
متن کاملPrologue for a synoptic catalog: combining a hospital library catalog and a bookseller's catalog.
This article introduces the synoptic catalog, a computerized combination of a hospital library catalog and a bookseller's catalog. Majors Scientific Books and Richmond Memorial Hospital Libraries in Virginia collaborated to develop the model. A logical evolution in catalog theory and practice, the design expands the identification, collocation, and evaluation functions of the traditional librar...
